ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE follows characters Marie-Laure LeBlanc and Werner Pfenning from the start of World War 2 until its end.

Marie-Laure is blind, dependent on her loving father as they escape Paris for Saint-Malo.

Werner Pfenning is an orphan and a radio prodigy forced to serve among the German ranks.

Each character with their own hardships, friends they come to love who are taken away, and the trials of war ever-present in their formative years.

ANTHONY DOERR creates a stunning 3rd- person narrative complete with short chapters and tantalizing descriptions. Despite the length of the book, the pace moves quickly inviting the reader into the wants of many different characters, some of which are in direct conflict.

hindsight: a masterpiece
