PRETTY GIRLS details the life of a family after it was torn apart when the eldest daughter went missing.
Haunted by what became of her, every member of the family went down a different life path to cope. The dad was determined to solve the mystery, the mom buried her head in the sand, one sister took to drugs, and the other got married.
KARIN SLAUGHTER takes the reader on a journey where we can painstakingly see the trials and tribulations of knowing the truth versus not knowing the truth.
The characters are well-formed and personable, even though the book is written in the third person (my least favorite). A lot of the plot points were predictable and made sense for the narrative.
I think the book included way to much detail on things that didn’t matter for the plot, but were there to help set up motivations for the characters. It could have been much shorter and just as impactful.
