This book on screenwriting dives into not only practical advice for before ever picking up a pencil to write a story, but also suggestions on how to go about the process in its entirety.

BLAKE SNYDER touches on genre, loglines, boards, and more to give a writer the best leg up on crafting their story.

SAVE THE CAT is full of wisdom and incredibly personable, detailing the author’s triumphs in Hollywood. He creates a perfect framework for writing a movie that delivers the plot, emotion, and characters that a story needs to succeed.

I found his information on loglines to be the most important, as this is the DNA of any story. I did remind myself that writing a novel is different than his framework since my novel will be over 300 pages to his 110 pages. Nonetheless, great information that only feels slightly outdated.

hindsight: loglines!!
