THE SONG OF THE BIRD is comprised of 124 stories and parables across a variety of traditions meant to remind you about the simplicity of life and how much God loves you.

ANTHONY DE MELLO, a Catholic priest, encourages religious discernment by strategically placing each story in a specific order.

Most stories come with a sentence of interpretation, but a few are solely comprised of the parable.

The book encourages the reader to read each story slowly and with intention, but I ripped through this one and resonated with almost every word on its pages. Bite-sized lessons that help you think and contemplate about religion and the power of God make this sometimes incredibly complex topic digestible for people ranging from the non-religious to even the most devout Catholic.

This is definitely a book I plan to revisit, and I encourage you to take notes and mark the stories that resonate the most with you. It touches on themes of humility, forgiveness, truth, and love. Ultimately, the stories kind of reset your ideology in a simple way that makes you feel like the answers have always been so obvious.
