THE PUMPKIN SPICE CAFÉ follows Jeanie as she moves to Dream Harbor to take over the café her aunt left to her. Here, she meets Logan, a local farmer with abandonment issues. Jeanie has to decide whether Dream Harbor is her forever home, and Logan has to decide whether he can risk being with a woman who might up and leave again.
The narrative is told in the 3rd person, following the perspectives of both Jeanie and Logan. I prefer novels told in 1st person because it helps the reader feel closer to the characters.
LAURIE GILMORE writes a cute narrative that gets a bit repetitive at times. The reader gets beaten over the head with the stakes and motivations of Logan and Jeanie’s feelings, which felt lackluster and trivial.
hindsight: easy read for fall
